Myofascial Release differs from massage, physical therapy, chiropractic care and others types of bodywork. Myofascial Release, or MFR for short, works with the body’s fascia. Fascia is the body’s connective tissue. Think about it as a three dimensional web that is found throughout the entire body. It extends from head to toe, surrounding every system in our bodies, and is responsible for maintaining our structure. Without fascia, our bodies would be shapeless.

Fascia acts as a shock absorber in our bodies. Healthy fascia is a fluid system, sliding and gliding as we move. But through life experiences, trauma, injuries, stress and repetitive motions, the fascia begins to bound down and solidify into what we call restrictions. This puts enormous pressure on our blood vessels, nerves, muscles and organs which cause us to experience muscle spasms, pain, tightness, fatigue, loss of movement and bizarre symptoms. Using gentle varied pressures and stretching, the fascia re hydrates and becomes more fluid and flexible.
