Why You Should Never Give Up on Healing, Part 1: My Story

The body has a story to tell when the space, time and environment is right. Here is part of mine, and why I became a healer. Past trauma holds people back from living full, healthy passionate lives. I’m here to change all that. I’m an intuitive healer and teacher and this is part 1 of a 3-part series to help you understand the possibilities when it comes to healing and living the life you long for!

How did you become a healer?

When I was a little girl, my extended family gathered most weekends and for events at my grandparents house. I would set up my grandparents bedroom like a spa (which I had never gone to one, not sure how that came to be). My aunts who were visiting would come up and I would charge them a dollar for a foot rub or a back massage. I would put lotion on their feet and back. Draw letters on their back with the lotion, we would laugh and giggle.

I feel like that is where I learned about the healing touch.

My life then lead me on to earning a degree in Early Childhood Education where I taught preschool for many years. I had my daughter at a young age. We lived on our own when I was 19 and I was mostly supporting us with some outside support.

I had a knowing that life could be different for us. I had this feeling that there was something else that I wanted to do in my career. I went on to advance my degree in Education with the thoughts of teaching in public school.

Then these obstacles started to appear, a change in the requirements for teacher certifications.

Around the same time, I picked up this book on massage and reiki at the local bookstore. I would practice on some of my friends. The obstacles with my degree became frustrating and that deep knowing nudged me to pursue massage school. I had never even had a massage!

Looking back, I can see how there was a deep knowing, my intuition guiding my way. It was divine intervention. Massage school was exactly what I needed. It was a catalyst for my own healing and transformation into a healer. I would say it saved my life. You may be familiar with the phrase the wounded healer. It was there that I learned about meditation, personal development and energy systems.

Each step of my journey helps me connect with the clients I now work with.

It is fascinating how it works out that way!

Tell me how you found John Barnes Myofascial Release and how did that change your practice?

It was another way of divine intervention. I thought I had my dream job at a pain management clinic. I was the “Deep Tissue Queen” but people weren’t getting better. Many years as a massage therapist with clients getting temporary results. I was becoming frustrated again and the knowing came back.

There had to be something else to help people get better. I had been working some of the best in my area for healthcare and not everyone getting better. I began to seek out other therapies. I studied hypnotherapy, craniosacral and then from a recommendation signed up for a John Barnes myofascial release seminar.

I was really blown away at the first seminar.

It just made sense to me. Everything that John Barnes shared about the body was connected, consciousness flowing through the body and how trauma and emotions impact our healing. I had an interesting experience towards the end of the seminar that was the catalyst for me to continue on taking the seminars.

After I returned from the seminar my practice began to change, and so did I. I was seeing and sensing the body differently, my treatments were shifting and changing and my clients were feeling the results.

This experience is called an unwinding and I’ll share more about it in Part 2 of this series! What I want you to know for now is that there are possibilities for healing that you don’t know about yet! Don’t ever stop searching. The answer might be closer than you think.

Hope it doesn’t sound too mom-like to say I’m proud of you – but I am. This is brilliant. Thank you for sharing yourself with us!

This is awesome. I know I’m reading this like 3 weeks after it was posted, but I’m glad part 2 is already out cause I’m soooo ready to dive in! And you’re so right in about the wounded healer. I admire you for wanting and pursuing the need to heal others.
