Chiropractic Adjustments Alone Aren’t Enough?: Problem Solved
“I feel better after chiropractic adjustments… but it doesn’t last.”

Many of my clients have worked with a chiropractor on their path towards relieving pain and feeling better. It is usually one of the first modalities to seek out when someone is experiencing pain and wants to try a healing practice other than traditional physical therapy.  I often hear from clients that their experiences with chiropractic care provide some relief but it’s not long-lasting. The adjustments don’t hold.

Here is a common experience, shared by my client Deb:

“Physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic helped, but did not fully solve the problem. In fact, my relief from chiropractic was temporary as my body was not able to hold the adjustment. It was frustrating.” – Deb W.

Why is chiropractic pain relief temporary for so many patients?

Since I am not a chiropractor, I can’t comment on the ins and outs of chiropractic care — but what I can share is my vast experience as a Myofascial Release specialist:

If a person’s pain is caused by fascial restrictions, then their body will keep going back into misalignment after chiropractic care until those restrictions are addressed and treated.

If you imagine that the fascia is similar to a beach candle, the one that has shells inside…

… the candle is fascia and the shells are your bones and organs. A twist of the candle and the shells shift to go with it. A similar shift occurs in our bodies. Restriction or tightness in the fascia pulls our boney structures out of position.

Myofascial therapy releases the internal pull on bones and organs, helps improve posture and frees up tight areas that are pressing down on nerve endings (so we can stand tall and proud, like a straight beach candle!).

When we address this issue, over time, clients often find that they require less frequent visits to the chiropractor. Their adjustments begin to hold for a longer period of time.

I’ve had several clients comment, after a course of treatments, that they haven’t been to their chiropractor recently or that they have forgotten to go because they don’t feel the same need as they had before.

Here’s Deb again:

“So my pain was greatly reduced, my yoga practice improved and I learned how to do self-treatment at home, so I was taking responsibility for releasing my fascia, not just expecting Jessica to work miracles. I was also delighted that my chiropractic adjustments hold.” – Deb W.

Our clients’ experiences suggest that the best way to have long-lasting results with chiropractic care is to first seek fascial relief with a trained professional. If you feel that your current treatments aren’t getting to the root of the issue or giving you the relief you need, we’d love to help you.
